Eight Secrets to Looking Ten Years Younger—at the Very Least!

You really do not have to embark on the quest for the fountain of youth to keep your skin and appearance looking younger and more vibrant. If you want to maintain that rosy glow on your face or the suppleness of the skin on your face and neck, you just need to know some beauty tricks that will help mask your real age the moment you step out of your house.

A Good Night's Sleep

A person who has puffy and raccoon eyes, which can be caused by sleep deprivation, will look old, no matter what his or her age is. Not having ample sleep can also make your face sag and your skin dull and sallow. For younger looking skin and face, make sure that you have an uninterrupted sleep of at least eight hours.

Focus On The Eyes

Beautiful looking eyes are important in making you look at least a decade younger. How do you make your eyes beautiful? First, do not over pluck your eyebrows. As soon as you reach the age of 30, you need to go easy on the plucking because there is a big chance that they won't grow back. Furthermore, thin and overly arched brows will make you look stern and old, much like the stepmothers in the fairy tales you know.

As you grow older, your eyelids will start to sag. One way to look younger is by curling your eyelashes and putting some mascara. This will make your eye pop and open, making you look more youthful. Lastly, do not forget to use concealer to hide dark circles and eye creams to make the skin surrounding your eyes more elastic.

What's On Your Lips?

When you are in your twenties, you can put whatever color of lipstick you like - pink, violet, black, brown and red. As you grow older, however, you need to look for shades that will flatter you and make your lips more firm and full. Stay away from brown and matte lipsticks because your lips will look drier and the lines on your mouth will be more pronounced. Be sure to use lipsticks that have gloss or moisturizer for a more gorgeous and irresistible lips.

Hair As A Crowning Glory

When you reach a certain age, having long hair is no longer flattering because your hair starts to thin and gray. Most women in their 60's are better off with a short or mid-length hairstyle. You may also try getting some bangs, so the wrinkles on your forehead will be covered. Moreover, this is the best time to color or put some highlights on your hair.

Choose Creamy Make Up

As you grow older, the ability of your body to hydrate and moisturize your skin starts to falter. As a result, most menopausal women have dry lined face and sagging skin. In order to compensate for the dryness, it is wise to use creamy make up -- blush, eye shadows, concealers, and foundations. Powdered make up makes your wrinkle and lines more visible.

Flash Those Pearly Whites

Wine, coffee, tea and even smoking can stain your teeth and can instantly make you look older. Be sure to pay attention to your dental health and use safe whitening products for your teeth. Besides, having pearly whites will make you feel more confident to smile a lot.

Mind Your Posture

To look and feel sexier and taller, all you have to do is to stand or sit up straight. Having a good posture can actually help you look thinner and more confident.

Hydrate And Moisturize

You need to accept the fact that you need all the help you can get in order to maintain soft and supple skin on your face, neck and body. To prevent the development of age spots, wrinkles, and other signs of aging, you need products that will help moisturize and hydrate your skin, and avert the aging process. Bodybuilding Can Help you Look and Feel Young Again

If you are 40 years of age or older and don’t exercise, you stand a good chance of developing a variety of ailments that could plague you the rest of your life: cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. But the good news is that a simple workout routine and a good nutritional program can prevent – even halt – some of these health crises. Even walking and other everyday activities like yard work can be lifesavers.

By the time you reach 40, you become more concerned about living longer. You don’t drive as fast, and you worry about health insurance. You try to avoid fights, and your contempt for your expanding midsection increases. At 40, a man or woman with no history of exercise may begin displaying the telltale signs of premature aging.

For the unexercised body, the erosion of muscle sets off a chain reaction that undermines physical abilities and functions that many take for granted. Suddenly, a flight of stairs makes your heart race; you cramp when you run; three push ups are your limit; your blood pressure rises and metabolic rate falls; your heart works harder because the blood vessel muscles lack the necessary tone to pump your blood; your bone mass declines; your flexibility diminishes causing injuries to sneak up on you; and you need reading glasses (eyes have muscles too).

If you are crossing that threshold into middle age and have never worked out, you are on your way to becoming a patient. You need an exercise and diet program. See your physician to get the go ahead for a fitness regimen. A basic physical examination might uncover symptoms or illnesses that could have an impact on your exercise program.

You might need an electrocardiogram or an exercise stress test, but usually there is no need to have a stress test if your heart isn’t acting up. By age 40, you may have non-specific changes in your electrocardiogram. Any evidence of a slight enlargement of the heart may triple the risk of a heart attack. In healthy people, the test produces too many false positives, indications that something is amiss when its not. If someone in your family has died of heart disease before age 55, or you have diabetes, hypertension, or are 30% or more overweight, a stress test is advisable. Barring a serious abnormality, you will more than likely get the okay to exercise from your doctor.

Overweight

The fatter you are, the greater the load on your circulatory system. And with extra weight, you increase the risks of such added health dangers as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and strokes. Being fat and 40 compounds the threat. Being 30% over weight can chop years off your life expectancy. On the brighter side, returning to a normal body weight any time after 40 – and maintaining it – puts you back on track for a normal lifespan.

Getting Started

When starting your exercise program, avoid working out in a very hot or very cold environment. The body’s ability to regulate temperature decreases with age, increasing the possibility of heat exhaustion or low body core temperature. Over time, exercise helps to restore the body’s ability to regulate temperature. Also, the sense of thirst decrease with age. Avoid dehydration by drinking water before, during and after a workout.

The initial conditioning should last about six weeks. You may need your physician’s continued emotional support as you make the transition from couch potato to an active lifestyle. As a bodybuilding beginner, you may want the aid of an experienced instructor, or a licensed private trainer if you can afford it. Don’t flounder around in a health club that doesn’t offer consistent guidance for novices.

After some time as a beginner, you’ll enter the improvement phase. Here, all the major physiological adaptations to exercise occur. If you continue with your steady workouts, it won’t be long before you reach a satisfactory level of muscularity, strength, cardio-respiratory fitness and decreased body weight. Both strength and aerobic training should be part of the program to provide optimum benefits.

Along with exercise, you should follow a virtually fat free diet. Although nutritionists and health professionals recommend reducing fat intake to 30% of daily calories, even less is better. You’ll have to replace those pizzas and dinners at fancy French restaurants with a natural food regimen. Purge your house of offending snacks, everything high in fat, salt, sugar and caffeine. The craving for junk food will soon disappear.

It has been proven time and time again that even if you’re over 40 and out of shape, a world of muscle, health and fitness can be yours. It requires a change of lifestyle, but over time, the only thing you’ll miss is bypass surgery.

Inactivity Speeds Up Aging

Inaction accelerates aging. So does inactivity. To resist the forces of aging you need to do a minimum amount of exercise every week. As we get older, the number and strength of our muscle fibers decrease. Starting as young as age thirty, we lose an average of two to four pounds of muscles a decade. In addition, many of us gain weight as we age, and muscle atrophy is concealed by those extra pounds of fat. Eventually, though, we notice a loss of flexibility as our atrophying muscles tighten and lose their range of motion. You may find that you can’t get up from a chair as easily as you used to or that you can’t bend over or couch without feeling stiffness or pain. This is a sign that you need to rebuild your muscles.

Why do our muscles age? Several factors contribute to muscle meltdown. It is partly a result of the energy drain that turns formerly active people into couch potatoes practically overnight. Men and women who used to find it possible and even refreshing to run to the gym at the end of a hectic day suddenly find that they want to do is go home, eat dinner, and “veg out” by the tube. Clearly, these folks are not taking their “Energizers.”

Exercise not only strengthens muscles but simulates the repair mechanism within the muscles so that new muscle is formed. If we don’t exercise, even for a few weeks, our muscles will weaken significantly. In fact, if you stop exercising for just six weeks, you will lose about 50 percent of your muscle strength. The good news here is that if you start exercising, you can quickly recover what you have lost.

Muscle cells are particularly vulnerable to free radical attack. Free radicals injure cells and also make it difficult for muscle cells to repair themselves. As we lose our antioxidant balance, we lose the battle against free radicals, and muscle simply disappears. A high dose of particular antioxidants will restore your body’s natural antioxidant defense system. This will prevent further muscle damage and stimulate the muscle cells to repair and heal themselves. But that is just the first step.

The way to prevent and to cure muscle loss is through exercise. If we exercise consistently, we can maintain much of our youthful musculature. You may feel surprised that regardless of age, the people showed no significant difference in levels of body fat. In other words, the oldest people had the same sleek, lean bodies as the youngest people! This tells us that a decrease in muscle is not an evitable part of aging. It tells us that if we stay physically active throughout our lives, we can maximize muscle tone and minimize fat. This does not mean that you have to be an endurance athlete to maintain your muscles and enjoy the full benefits of exercise. The key is to maintain a consistent level of moderate exercise.

Do You Use Anti Aging Eye Cream?

I know some people who use them, others don't. The group is divided by those who say they work, and those who say they were a waste of money. I am naturally curious. I normally ask people why?

I find a few similarities. The group with the least 'beneficial' results wear a lot of perfume, a lot of make-up, eat fast food, and eat red meat. All of these increase the number of toxins your body has to deal with.

Skin damage starts on the inside. But, it can also be caused by environmental factors. Spending too much time in the sun, driving, in smoke filled areas, in stressful situations, all cause problems with our skin.

You need to 'fix' the skin. Next you need to understand the environmental problems your skin faces, only then can you find a cream that works.

Why Use Anti Aging Eye Creams
The fact of the mater is that as a person ages their face is where it shows most. Another fact is that of all the places that show age on the face, it is the eyes that perform this function best. The irony of this fact is that it is the smallest type of facial skin wrinkle “crows feet” that are responsible for showing a persons age in their eyes.

This is the very reason why so much research has gone into these fine wrinkles that form on the outer corners of the eyes. As a result of all of the research that has taken place, much understanding has been gained regarding the formation of crows feet, which has led to the development of products that have been shown in clinical tests to effectivly reduce the depth and length of these fine wrinkles.

What was found during the research is that it is the thinning of a layer of skin called the dermal epidermal junction that is located between the dermal and the epidermal skin layers that is the primary reason for the development of crows feet. Strivectin SD eye cream has been shown in multiple clinical trials to in fact have the effect of thickening this substrate layer by stimulating the skin to produce collagen.

The result of the thickening of this skin layer is shallower and shorter crows feet wrinkles. Dark circles under the eyes is another problem that effects some people and there is now product that clinical tests have determined to be effective in diminishing dark under eye circles. Kinerase eye cream contains a substance called kinetin that has the effect of stimulating the natural process your skin uses to rid itself of excess pigment. Its the process that your skin uses when a tan fades away and your skin becomes light again.

Anti-aging Acne Skin Care

I was told when younger 'before trying something for acne - drink 5 bottles of water a day for 3 weeks.' I've done that, and it has cured all my acne problems. Most of my problems are caused by a build up of dirt and toxins under the skin. Usually, a few days stress will cause an outbreak.

My son is in the same boat, but he won't drink water. Instead he wants to use creams and lotions to treat the surface outbreak instead of treat the underlying problem. I am not against acne creams. Some of them work well.

Think of your skin as 3 parts, the foundation, the middle, the top. Most creams work on the top - some work down to the middle, but none get into the foundation. Your skin cleans the body of toxins. That means that while you are putting cream on the top, your body is pushing contaminants up from the bottom. You need to slow down, or stop the flow of pollutants from underneath - putting cream on the top layer won't stop your liver and kidneys from doing their job.

Anti-aging Acne Skin Care: Start Early For Best Results

When it comes to acne, people between the ages of 10 to 40 are the most likely to be affected. Acne can manifest itself as black and whiteheads, congested pores, pimples, papules, nodules, pustules as well as cysts, roascea or conglobata. If you are a sufferer of acne, the good news is that there are a number of anti aging acne skin care products available that can help you effectively treat this condition. However, you will need to exercise care when using some of these treatments because many of them have side effects, which can be on the negative side and some of which can be extremely serious.

A Number Of Different Options To Take

Taking good care of your skin is very important for both men and women. The skin should be properly moisturized on a regular basis so that any signs of aging will diminish and this can be combined with other various techniques so that the skin is protected against damage from the sun as well. There are so many options out in the marketplace for anti aging acne skin care. However, not all the products are created equal and not all products will provide a satisfactory end result. You should be very selective when it comes to spending your money on all these different products. It's way too easy to spend a ton of money on products that will fail to do the job and in some cases may even make your acne problem worse.

The first thing you should do is to consult with a dermatologist or a skin care expert. Seek their advice on what they feel would be the best anti aging acne skin care solution for you. There are times when the process of removing your acne scars can consume a lot of time because of the fact that there are many types of acne scars. Some of these acne scars that appear on the surface of the skin may prove to be resistant to the current skin care treatment that you are using.

One good option that is very popular is glycolic acid peeks, salicylic acid peels, as well as TCA peels. Dermatologists often recommend these because they worked extremely well not only on acne scars, but also take care of age spots as well as fine wrinkles. Another product that you can try is Bi-phasic peel.

The bottom line is the faster you take action, the better the results will be when it comes to the first signs of acne or aging, as denial will only lead to a worsening of the condition. Using a good anti aging acne skin care treatment will not only help remove and/or reduce wrinkles, but may also have a positive effect on the acne scars since most of the products contain nutrients as well as vitamins. These nutrients and vitamins will help rejuvenate the skin. In addition, if these products also contain Retinol, it's an added bonus because Retinol certainly does have considerable rejuvenating effects on aging skin.

Managing Sensitive Skin

Sensitivity whether through the skin or allergies is our body warning us that something is wrong. I suffered serious breathing problems that continued to get worse every year for five years. Only then did someone tell me that my breathing problems might be the result from toxins in the body - or disease.

Some people have naturally sensitive skin. Others have skin that are sensitive to some contaminants. It is important to determine whether there are internal problems that need to be flushed out. Only then can you figure out what you need on your skin.

Many people start noticing problems when they start living a healthy lifestyle. This is because their bodies are returning to their normal efficient state. They start working to force toxins from the body. This causes problems. Give it a while. Once the toxins are out of the body, the sensitivity may go away.

Products for Sensitive Skin - Look Years Younger

A lot of people with delicate surfaces take some measures in care for sensitive skin. The skin care market has a huge variety of products for sensitive skin that provide the desired look, feeling and care for a lot of people. Not everyone need products for sensitive skin, so before you decide to spend you hard earned money on such products, try to determine your skin sensitivity degree.

You may have skin problems even if you don't know it. The signs are not always noticed. There are some things to consider that should help you determine if products for sensitive skin care are vital for your regimen. You may think that you fall into the normal range but you may be surprised that you need extra attention.

Taking good care of your overall health is crucial. Care for sensitive skin should be a part of your daily regimen as well. There are a lot of things that factor into this subject and sometimes it is essential to take a step back and look at your state objectively before writing off a sensitive skin care routine.

There are some tell tale signs that your skin needs some assistant. If you tend to break out in rashes, if your skin itches or becomes irritated easily, then you want to adopt a sensitive skin care regimen into your daily routine. While you may not naturally break out or become irritated, a tell-tale sign that your skin is problematic may be apparent only after certain activities.

Maybe you notice some redness and irritation after taking a dip in the pool. You may think that this is quite common but it is really a sign that you should get sensitive skin care products. These items should be applied on a regular basis, not just after swimming.

Tight skin is a sign that often goes unnoticed. You may feel your skin tighten after you use certain cleansers for the face. A few people find that their skin becomes tight after exposure to natural elements such as sun and wind. If you burn or chap easily, then you must use products for sensitive skin care as preventative and restorative measures.

Even your clothes may tell you if you should look into buying products for sensitive skin care. Maybe you can't tolerate a few laundry detergents. If you find that you have tried every detergent on the market and you still feel itchy and irritated. If the products you use aren't free from inks, dyes or perfumes, then care for sensitive skin measures are needed and products for sensitive skin are a must.

Skin Care Products - Should You Use Them

Like all products in the health industry, skin care products are designed to cover problems and mask the effects of abuse and neglect. Most of these products are specially designed to 'hide' the symptoms that something is wrong in our body.

Our skin is the body's largest organ. Its purpose is to clean toxins from our body. When we mask this problem, we are not only ignoring the message, but we are making it harder for the skin to continue doing what it needs to do - clean the contaminats from the inside.

We need to solve the internal problem, only then can we see the 'real' warning, compared to the results of damage. Only then can a dermatologist read our skin properly and help us.

Dermatologist Skin Care Products – are They Always Good

Dermatologist skin care products used to attract me. In the past I didn't put faith if any of the over the counter skin care products. If there was no dermatologist recommended skin care product I would just walk away. Since my early days I had used a lot of dermatologist skin care products because I was not satisfied with the cards mother nature had given me. No matter the product I tried I still saw room for improvement. My parents spent a lot of money in my teen years buying on a regular basis boxes and boxes of skin care products. To fight acne I had products that would dry my skin which gave me mass irritation. My skin began to develop rashes that spread all over my face and provided me with a new problem to fight against.

What I didn't realize was that my dermatologist skin care products were part of the problem. You see, dermatologist recommended skin care products very rarely use a sensitive touch. The whole point of going to a skin care dermatologist is getting something that will work, and work now. Dermatological skin creams often have steroids, antibiotics, or other harsh ingredients. For difficult problems, it can be just what the doctor ordered, but for milder issues, it might often make the problem much worse.

Unfortunately, I didn't discover this fact until much later. By the time I gave up my faith in dermatologist skin care , I was no longer dealing with the problems of youth, but with those of age. I went to my dermatologist for anti aging creams, wrinkle removers, and all kinds of other stuff like that. My skin looked mottled to me, and although my friends insisted that there was nothing wrong with it, I knew differently. Unfortunately, all that my dermatologist could do was to irritate my skin further.

Fortunately, one of my friends took me to a cosmetics store and showed me what was what. She had gone to the doctor to get dermatologist skin care products when she was younger too, so she knew all about it. In her case, however, some of the dermatologist recommended skin care products had caused an extreme reaction. She had not done well with the steroidal cream they had given her, and it made her very sick. She had learned the hard way what she was showing me the easy way: that sometimes over the counter skincare is the better way to go.

Tune-up your Immune System

Our body's ability to heal itself depends on its ability to function properly. We do not need to boost our immune system. We need to restore it to its original, efficient, capabilities. Most of use are born with the ability to fight off viruses, repell disease, and heal itself. Over time, toxins, pollutants, fat, fatigue, stress, and over-work all degenerate our immune system. It stops working.

Instead of healing our immune system, we try to boost it. We take supplements meant to 'kick start' our system - but it doesn't work that way. First, we must heal our immune system. Then, if we still need it - we can boost its effectiveness.

Top 7 Tips to Laugh Hard and Often to Tune-up your Immune System

Our mood and attitude have a tremendous bearing on the function of our immune system. When we are happy and up, our immune system functions much better. Conversely, when we are depressed, our immune system tends to be depressed. Laughter and other positive emotional states can in fact enhance the immune system. In addition, the use of guided imagery, hypnosis, and other meditative states have been shown to enhance the immune system function. Obviously, if you want to have a healthy immune system, you need to laugh often, view life with a positive eye, and put yourself in a relaxed state of mind on a regular basis. By laughing frequently and taking a lighter view of life, you will find that life is much more enjoyable and fun. Here are some tips to help you get more laughter in your life.

1. Play With Kids

Kids really know how to laugh and play. If you do not have kids of your own, spend time with your nieces and nephews, or with neighbourhood children with whose families you are friendly. Become a Big Brother or Big Sister. Investigate local Little Leagues. Help out at your church’s Sunday school and children’s events.

2. Listen To Comedy Audiotapes In Your Car While Commuting

Check your local record store, bookstore, video store, or library for recorded comedy routines of your favourite comic. If you have not heard or seen many comics, go to your library first. You will find an abundance of tapes to investigate, and you can check with them out for free.

3. Go To Comedies At The Movie Theatre

Go for those movies that are full of comedies. If you see a funny movie together with your friends, you will find yourself laughing harder and longer than if you had seen the same scene by yourself. You and your friends feed off each other’s laughter during and after the movie. Laughing together helps build relationships.

4. Learn To Laugh At Yourself

Recognize how funny some of your behaviour really is, especially your shortcomings or mistakes. We all have little idiosyncrasies or behaviours that are unique to us that we can recognize and enjoy. Do not take yourself too seriously.

5. Inject Humor Anytime It Is Appropriate

People love to laugh. Get a joke book and learn how to tell a good joke. Humor and laughter really make life enjoyable.

6. Watch Comedies On Television

With modern cable systems, you will be amazed at how easy it is to find something funny on television. When I am in need of a good laugh, I try to find something I can laugh at on TV. Some of my favourites are the old-time classics like The Andy Griffth Show, Gilligan’s Island, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and so on.

7. Read The Comics To Locate A Comic That You Find Funny And Follow It

Humor is very individual. What I may find funny, you may not, but the comics have something for everybody. Read them thoroughly to identify a comic strip that you think is particularly funny and look for it every day or week.

New Years

It is a new year. Everyone is making resolutions and making goals for the coming year. Most of us use this time to make life altering changes, break bad habits, or restructure our lives.

These never last because we don't do the most important thing first - change our mindset. Change what we expect from ourselves and what we consider normal. Believe it or not, there are people who believe living an unhealthy life is 'living the good life.' Others think that being emotionally abusive is normal. Our mindset determines our successes and failures in life.

If you want to change who you are - then change how you think.

Five Ways to Live Younger in 2008

It's a new year. And it can only mean one thing; another count to your years. In 2008, you do not need to worry about getting older. Your age is largely about how you perceive yourself. Some quarters even say that age is all in the mind. So if you are wondering how you can stop or even turn back the clock, all you have to do is join the handful of people who have lived by the following tips.

Calm Your Nerves Down

Stress is the number one cause of many diseases that older people are at risk of. In fact, stress can be responsible for premature aging. If this is the case, why not adopt ways to enable your body to relax?

There are countless relaxation procedures that can help you calm down your nerves. If you can turn off the stressors that hound your life, then you may have already won half of the battle against the effects of aging.

Soak Up The Red Wine

A study done at Harvard Medical School found that obese mice treated with heavy doses of extracts from red wine had remarkable improvement in their health. Meaning, the treated mice showed no signs of diseases commonly linked to being overweight; as a matter of fact, the treated mice lived longer than those who were not obese but untreated.

This seemingly magical effects brought about by red wine is due to a substance known as resveratrol. This substance is largely secreted in the grape's skin and is a very potent antioxidant. Because of resveratrol, drinking plenty of red wine can help your body delay and take action against the effects of the aging process.

Munch On Lots Of Dark Chocolate

Well, dark chocolate can be bitter to the taste. But you know, with all those grievous taste comes an abundance of antioxidants. Flavonoids contained in dark chocolate can be beneficial in increasing your level of energy and in your body's fight against free radicals. This substance can also reduce cholesterol in your body; in that connection, your risk to high blood pressure and heart diseases that come with age are also significantly lowered.

Make Room For More Sex

Sex can be great for your health in making you feel younger. People who have sex regularly are found to have increased levels of antibodies in their systems, this means their immune system are in tiptop condition.

Making love with your partner is also a great way to fight off stress. Having sex and attaining orgasm releases brain chemicals called endorphins which are basically nature's tranquilizers implanted right in your own system. Just imagine a safer way to get high; where all worries and anxieties are left behind. This is one of the reasons why sex has been regarded as a life-extender in many civilizations.

Exercise Your Mind And Body Regularly

Think about yourself as a knife; where constant use can make you become sharper and free of stains, while neglect can only result to becoming dull and rusty. Your body works in the same philosophy. Meaning, you have to regularly exercise your mind and body so that you will maintain a balanced life, better flexibility, and greater physical strength and mental aptitude no matter how old you are.

However, in exercising your body, you have to remember that there are parts of your body which can only surrender to the influence of time as you get older. Like certain aspects of your bone structure, these have to contend with the natural process of wear and tear.

But you do not have to stop living the good life and feeling younger just because you feel pain on your back or your legs. If you are concerned about the condition of your bone structures, you can use products like Osteozyne to help you protect your bones against the damages brought by aging. Visit www.osteozyne.com for more details about improving the health of your bones.

Supercharged Fruit…natural Relief for Arthritis Pain, Gout and Inflammation

Say hello to the little red fruit…and get ready for a healing surprise. Cherries, the favorite fruit of millions, have been found to offer natural relief for arthritis pain, gout and inflammation. Tart cherry juice concentrate is a supercharged way to enjoy this wonder fruit.

Tart cherries contain anthocyanins and bioflavonoids, which inhibit the enzymes Cyclooxygenase-1 and -2, and prevent inflammation in the body. These compounds have similar activity as aspirin, naproxen and ibuprofen. Further investigations revealed that daily consumption of tart cherries has the potential to reduce the pain associated with inflammation, arthritis and gout.

A person eating 20 tart cherries a day could realize antioxidant or anti-inflammatory benefits. “Twenty cherries provide 25 milligrams of anthocyanins, which help to shut down the enzymes that cause tissue inflammation in the first place, so cherries can prevent and treat many kinds of pain," says Muraleedharan Nair, the lead researcher on the cherry project at Michigan State University. The anthocyanins also may protect artery walls from the damage that leads to plaque build up and heart disease. In fact, the latest research shows that anthocyanins do a better job of protecting arteries than vitamins C and E.”

A convenient way to consume a daily dose of cherries is through tart cherry juice concentrate. The versatility offered by the concentrate allows it to be mixed with water, soda, oatmeal and even ice cream. The delicious possibilities are endless.

You can read more about the healing benefits of cherries at http://www.traversebayfarms.com or call for a free brochure 877-746-7477.

Everlasting Youth - Everlasting Happiness

All of us wish to hold on to youth and the energy and zing associated with it. We all crave for it. But are we doing enough except applying a brighter make-up and dyeing grey hair? Maybe not. Don’t you think you should get moving?
Here are a few ways with the help of which we can stay young for a long, long time to come!

Know Your Body
Before we start exercising to shed flab, we should find out the root cause of the problem so that we can win the battle of the bulge. The excess flab may be due to poor metabolism. Our appetite is controlled by hormones produced by our body and certain chemicals produced by our brains. We should strive to balance our hormones and consume omegas, pumpkin oil, hemp oil, flaxseed oil as they help reduce fat.

Check Inflammation
Inflammation is our body’s natural reaction to injury or infection. Inflammation may sometimes lead to weight gain, which gives rise to lethargy, high blood sugar levels and hormonal imbalances. This can be checked by consuming naturally processed grape seed extract (an excellent antioxidant), green tea extract and mineral extracts.

Combat Oxidative Stress
Oxidative stress can occur either due to a decrease in antioxidant level or due to an excess of free radicals or both. If the living condition surrounding us is polluted or unhygienic, we are working in stressful conditions and not drinking enough water, we might be victims of oxidative stress. It can cause cellular damage, thus accelerating wrinkling and hair loss and might also result in diabetes and weight gain. To combat this, we should increase intake of colorful plant food, green tea and herbal tea to fight it.

Watch your Thyroid
Thyroid is the master metabolic regulator. Its malfunctioning leads to a gamut of problems like depression, anxiety, infertility, pregnancy complications, dry skin and hair, high cholesterol, heart trouble, joint pain and menstrual irregularities. Consume cabbage, sweet potato, corn and pearl millet to boost thyroid functioning.

Liver and Blood
To detoxify our liver, we should consume soy protein, whey water, broccoli, pomegranate, phytonutrients and grape seed extract.

Watch What You Eat
Keeping a watch on what exactly we are eating is extremely important to our overall well being. We should ban processed food from our diet and go for natural foods. Organic extracts should be consumed on a regular basis. Consume all plant food colors possible in a balanced manner.

No Ill Feelings
Hatred or ill feelings towards others reflects on our face. If we delete the bad memories, we would regain a childlike state of happiness.

Keep the Child in You Alive
Never get into the comfort zone. Never think that there is nothing else to do. We should keep the child in us alive by constantly indulging in meaningful activities that makes us happy. Keep on developing new hobbies.

Focus on De-Stressing
Stress can arise from three factors.
Genetic Disposition: We may be prone to certain genetic disorders like diabetes and hypertension. We should be very cautious about such problems and be aware of every minute change that our body displays. If our family history confirms such genetic tendencies, we should be very regular with our check-ups.
Lifestyle: Lifestyle disorders arise from negative habits like smoking, consumption of alcohol, watching too much TV and not eating on time. These result in stress. We should abhor these habits and focus on being physically active which would help in burning calories and staying fit.
Environment: Our offices, our homes, the pollution, our relationships etc. creates our environment. We should try to find out what exactly is pulling us down and then try to find a solution by talking to our peers and well wishers. Always try to look at the brighter side of things.
When under stress, the adrenal gland in our body produces cortisol, a hormone that increases our blood sugar and insulin levels and slows down the burning of fat. Stress increases inflammation which causes weight gain around the waist. We should fight stress by trying to keep our mind free from negatives.

Friends
Friends who really care, are life long assets of an individual. They have the ability to make things better for you just by their physical presence beside you. Just by taking a look at their smiling faces, you would have a feeling that your worries are fading away.

Chuck the Routine
Life is not just about getting up in the morning, doing the same old stuff all day and then going off to sleep. Instead, listen to some heart warming music, watch a dance performance or go for a drive. Set aside time for daily exercise and relaxation. Do some stretching initially followed by deep breathing for five minutes and then meditation. This goes a long way in relieving mental stress.

Sleep Tight
Lack of sleep reflects on our face. It makes us age faster. We should try to sleep for at least six hours every night. And don’t forget to dream big!

All the Best.

Is Plastic Surgery Worth It?

We've all thought about it once or twice. A little nip and tuck. A short procedure to eliminate the tummy bulge and lift our butt back 'into place.' Sometimes we want to go to extremes. Adding to the bust, restructuring the silhouette of the leg. It all adds up.

Just a few weeks ago a woman made the news. She went in for a routine plastic surgery procedure and died. The sad thing, if she had done her homework, she would have found several people who had serious concerns about this person. The surgeon had been reported more than once.

If you are going to have plastic surgery then research the clinic thoroughly. Contact the regulatory board and make sure everything is up to par - before going for your first meeting. Learn what is the norm in the industry.

Anti Aging Fears: Is Going Under The Knife To Look Younger Worth Risking Your Life?

Society has told us in many different ways over the years that aging is something bad, to the point where we should be ashamed it is happening to us.

If this is not the case, then why has plastic surgery become a multi-billion dollar industry? Why do men leave their wives for younger women more frequently than twenty years ago? Why are women becoming more insecure and working out at the gym when they should be enjoying their free time after work?

As plastic surgery increases, so do the very unfortunate deaths that go along with these risks. We have all seen the television shows entitled, Plastic Surgery Gone Wrong.

Do we feel sorry for these people who chose this route to attain the fountain of youth? Or do we envy their bravery for at least trying? How about the debt incurred taking out loans, cashing in their 401k, or using their pension and savings account just to strip their face of 10 years worth of aging and wrinkles? Will it work? Is it worth it?

Regardless, society as a whole does not view aging as a grateful gift of gratitude for our years of hard work and relaxation by earning our valued retirement. It is perceived that we have become weak, infertile, outdated, and unable to contribute in society today. A burden, if you will, is cast upon baby boomers and beyond.

Did you hear the story about the grandmother who spent thousands of dollars to have a facelift because her grandchild screamed in horror each time she picked him up? She said he was afraid of her face, because she looked so old and had so many deep wrinkles. This grandmother was compelled to take action by getting plastic surgery so her grandchild would play with her. Can you feel her pain? Should she have had the surgery so her grandchild would not cry every time she picked him up? When did wrinkles become such a horrific disfigurement?

Never mind the younger generation's point of view that people over 40 are not technologically intelligent or willing to conform to our ever-increasing gadget craze; we do not even get a second look when showing up for a job interview if the job requires a technical background. The supervisor assumes we either do not have the skills needed, or we will not fit in with the younger employees as a cohesive team.

However, there are alternatives that do not force us to go under the knife and risk our lives to stay youthful in appearance. Before spending your hard-earned money on expensive over-the-counter and prescription anti aging creams, shop around and read the many reviews and real-life testimonials from men and women who have nothing to lose by telling you the truth regarding whether or not the product actually worked for them.

Anti aging skin care is something we should all adhere to, for our own sake. Eat healthfully, and review the many great products which include anti aging serum and anti aging creams. As society ages, we do have choices that won't break our bank account.

The Changing Face of Beauty

Author: Cynthia Rowland

Not long ago, in the previous century/millennium, women and men aged gracefully. They proudly accepted the fate of their faces; no one was bothered by wrinkles, crevices or even gray hair.

The flower children are surely to blame. Those hippies of yesteryear firmly believed that they would always look like they did when they were swinging through the 60's, 70's and 80's.

It was when the drug companies formed an alliance with opportunistic physicians did they realize how desperately people clung to their youthful appearance. They began to formulate lotions and potions, injections that plump and paralyze and other modalities that would prop up aging faces and satisfy the longing caused by a nation preoccupied with looking young.

These temporary courses of treatment were soon accepted by the masses. In fact, the desired effect of just looking in the mirror became painful if the visage looking back was beginning to show signs of aging.

Spending after tax dollars to chase the youth factor has kept Big Pharma in the research and development business because they want to hook you into believing that you are not pretty or handsome if you are not using their products.

Celebrities were the first to use most every concoction distributed. It was and still is easy to spot those television and film stars who use fillers and paralyzing injections. Even though producers and directors might cringe because the scene lacks believability when emotions are thwarted if the face does not naturally respond, it does not stop the men and women on our screens from using these items.

The same goes for surgical procedures. These users of surgery and injections would like you to believe that that they look years younger because Mother Nature has been so very kind to them.

John Q. Public needs to know that fooling with your good looks can have dire consequences and that there is no need to go into debt or spend thousands of dollars needlessly on something that must be repeated and repeated year after year.

Consequences are increasing now that MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) has reared its ugly head. These super strains of bacteria and infection produce grave health concerns.

The administration of anesthesia can also create unwanted side effects; couple that with risky procedures and you have the recipe for disaster - The Perfect Storm!

Every procedure, every injection is risky.

Cutting perfectly healthy tissue, re-draping the skin and suturing it back together should be thoroughly considered as a life-threatening event.

Allowing anyone to inject your body, your face with serums that have not been fully tested or explored is ludicrous. Most injections used by the medical community have not had extensive testing to show results for long-term use. You are pretty much on your own insofar as long term use is concerned.

Perhaps you are thinking there is no hope for your aging face. Well, there is and it doesn't involve anything that would cause harm, disfigurement or risk.

Treating the cause of an aging face begins and ends with exercise.

If you are wearing a droopy, sagging face, it is because the muscles that support the skin are no longer taut. Instead they are headed south because they lack exercise. Exercise for the face will plump up the muscles, force oxygenate blood to the tissues and help you look years younger when you dedicate only a few minutes per day to a routine.

Do not believe for one minute that surgery or injections will work faster, better, longer than facial exercise. They will not. Just because sutures have been removed and the suture line looks less red than it did initially, does not mean you are healed from an invasive procedure. It takes months and months, maybe even a year or more for complete healing to occur.

If you erroneously believe that those paralyzing and plumping injections have stopped the aging process, think again. Aging continues to affect the downward slide of your facial muscles even if they are propped up and paralyzed.

As the old adage says, "You cannot fool Mother Nature." Be safe, exercise your face and look recognizable for many years to come.

Women Dying to Look Beautiful

Another young, vibrant woman died in late September during a recent liposuction procedure in Toronto. How sad that this talented, successful, single mother lost her life hoping to rid her tummy of a little mound of fat.

It is most bizarre that her surgeon had no specialties and no hospital privileges. She, the surgeon, was training in family medicine but she is not listed as an accredited family practitioner with the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

The scenario of allowing untrained and unqualified practitioners to call themselves cosmetic surgeons that actually perform surgeries is repeated many times a day in many areas of the world.

In the US plastic surgeons must undergo licensing and adhere to strict regulations, but there's little to stop general practitioners from calling themselves cosmetic surgeons and performing the same procedures that licensed plastic surgeons perform.

Family doctors, physicians, not trained in plastic surgery are performing cosmetic procedures because injections that plump and paralyze, liposuction, surgery and other procedures are very, very lucrative to their bottom line. They are in it for the money.

This is a growing public health risk and lax standards permitted this death to happen.
It is vitally important to your health and well being to scrutinize the qualifications and training of a practitioner if you are considering any invasive procedures. This absolutely includes injections as well as surgery because injections are invasive.

Do not be intimidated or flustered to ask when, where and how extensive the doctor has been trained in any procedure. Some physicians are trained only hours over a weekend in certain procedures. You must remember that cosmetic surgeon is a misnomer, there really isn't such a distinction in the medical community.

Oh sure there are physicians who call themselves cosmetic surgeons but their training may have been in dentistry, internal medicine or proctology. In other words you really need to think carefully about allowing anyone the opportunity to fool with your long-term health and well-being.

This includes physicians who are practicing in foreign countries. There have been incidents of botched procedures and even deaths directly attributed to untrained and unlicensed, unscrupulous people vying for your dollar. They seem to smell desperation like sharks swimming after blood. Shame on you if you fall for their under-handed ploys. You must perform your due diligence and ask the hard questions before you consider booking your travel or their services.

Liposuction, breast augmentation, brow lifts, facelifts, injections and more lure unsuspecting aging men and women into believing that nothing untoward could ever happen to them.

The statistics of procedures that have been botched or resulted in death are not easily obtained. This is not surprising when you consider how long the industry has gone unregulated. These are toxic secrets that have been hidden from view for a very long time.

There are reported deaths in 2007 from Arizona. The circumstances are so bizarre but you must know how people parade themselves as surgeons when they are not. The Arizona Republic reports on July 12, that a massage therapist performed a liposuction procedure in which a woman died.

A homeopathic physician who was denied a medical doctor's license by the state board did another procedure in which a patient died. Others who performed cosmetic surgery did not have formal medical training; include a bookkeeper and a former restaurant owner. Egads!

Cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, stroke, paralysis, blood clots, adverse reactions to anesthesia, unqualified and untrained personnel are serious complications that most likely can be avoided if you wisely understand that fooling with Mother Nature's handiwork can have dire consequences.

What about those shysters who inject fake serums into their unsuspecting clients? This was reported in Florida when four people went into a coma after receiving botulism and again in Las Vegas when a doc and his wife knowingly injected patients with botulism toxin type A - a cheaper form of Botox®. In Queens, NY, a beautician was arrested after administering fake cosmetic injections into her spa patients.

These and other sad stories are repeated many times during a year. No one intends to become a statistic.
